This film was made during a family holiday in between the covid lockdowns, where John squeezed a few early morning sessions in on the local pits and a shallow river close to the holiday villa.

In late October 2021, John ventured South in search of huge barrage carp. These had seen some serious angling pressure throughout the autumn, but were at their highest weights, so there was a decent chance of a few big fish, if he could track them down.

In the early spring of 2016, John spent a few days exploring some of the canals in Eastern France. During his travels, he also stopped in on a large, nearby reservoir, in search of some wild carp.

John returns to the big gravel pit featured in the April 2013 episode of Drive & Survive, in the hope of a huge carp. The stocked fish had now grown to enormous sizes, with some now exceeding 60lb, but with nearly 900 acres of water to roam, it wasn’t going to be easy locating them.
