John returns to a huge gravel pit, where he'd been lucky enough to catch a number of very old “original” carp to over 62lb. Very little was documented on the lake but he'd had tracked down photos of a small number of huge carp that he just couldn’t stop thinking about.

In November 2013, John returned to the Alps area to fish the small lakes of the lower valleys.

During the September of 2014, John embarked on an adventure to Eastern France with his friend Tim. The plan was to fish the famous Lac Madine, before exploring an unknown, weed-choked lake with tricky access.

John and Tim Return to a weedy lake they’d visited the previous Autumn. They had very little information on the stock but these were clearly wild carp that had been left to grow in a natural environment with very little angling pressure.

A return to a group of reservoirs in central France, which John hadn’t visited in 5 years. Jumping between too many lakes in the region and never really settled , he caught plenty of carp, but could and should have caught more.

In the early spring of 2016, John spent a few days exploring some of the canals in Eastern France. During his travels, he also stopped in on a large, nearby reservoir, in search of some wild carp.

Since a young child John had always dreamed of fishing Lac De Saint Cassien, having seen the occasional huge fish show up in the Angling Times. In September 2016, just as the summer was ending, it was finally going to become reality.

In April 2017, John decided to make a road trip into central France to explore some lakes and canal’s which fall off the beaten track. The element of mystery is magic and something he couldn’t wait to immerse himself in.
